WARNER/CHAPPELL CAPS INCREDIBLE AWARDS SEASON WITH A "BEST SONG" TRIFECTA: OSCAR, GOLDEN GLOBE AND GRAMMY AWARD

Warner/Chappell Music capped an incredible awards season with its songwriters winning a trifecta of major “Best Song” awards, including an Oscar, Golden Globe and GRAMMY Award.

On March 7th at the 82nd Annual Academy Awards, Warner/Chappell songwriter Ryan Bingham received his first “Original Song” Oscar for co-writing “The Weary Kind (Theme Song from Crazy Heart).” The Oscar followed a string of awards for Bingham and his fellow Oscar Award-winning co-writer, T Bone Burnett, including “Best Original Song-Motion Picture” at the 67th Annual Golden Globes and “Best Song” at the 15th Annual Critics’ Choice Movie Awards, among others. New Mexico-born, Texas-raised rodeo bull rider turned singer/songwriter, Bingham released his second studio album in June 2009, Roadhouse Sun, with his band, Ryan Bingham & The Dead Horses.

In addition, Warner/Chappell songwriter The Dream won “Song of the Year” at this year’s 52nd Annual GRAMMY Awards held on January 31st for “Single Ladies (Put a Ring On It),” recorded by Beyoncé. “Single Ladies (Put a Ring On It)” also won a GRAMMY Award for “Best R&B Song.” [READ MORE]
  SEVEN-TIME GRAMMY AWARD-WINNING SONGWRITER AND RECORDING ARTIST DAVE GROHL SIGNS WORLDWIDE ADMINISTRATION AGREEMENT  
 
Warner/Chappell Music has signed a worldwide agreement with seven-time GRAMMY Award-winning songwriter and recording artist, Dave Grohl. As part of the agreement, Warner/Chappell will administer worldwide publishing rights for the first four records by Grohl’s Foo Fighters, including the band’s classic self-titled debut, the double-platinum The Colour and the Shape, and the GRAMMY Award-winning million-plus-selling albums There Is Nothing Left to Lose and One By One. Warner/Chappell Music will also administer Grohl’s interest in some of Nirvana's best-known works.

  GUCCI MANE SIGNS WORLDWIDE ADMINISTRATION DEAL  
 
Warner/Chappell Music has signed a worldwide publishing agreement with Atlanta-based Warner Bros. Records/Asylum recording artist, Gucci Mane. Warner/Chappell Music will administer a majority of Gucci Mane’s catalog of work, his recently-released second studio album, The State vs. Radric Davis, as well as his future compositions.

Released on December 8, 2009, The State vs. Radric Davis debuted at No. 1 on Billboard’s Rap Album chart, No. 2 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart and No. 10 on The Billboard 200.

The first single from the album, “Wasted” (featuring Plies and OJ Da Juiceman) reached No. 3 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs and Hot Rap Songs charts. TWO-TIME GRAMMY AWARD-WINNING SINGER/SONGWRITER JAKOB DYLAN SIGNS WORLDWIDE CO-PUBLISHING AGREEMENT

Warner/Chappell Music has signed a worldwide publishing agreement with two-time GRAMMY Award-winning singer/songwriter Jakob Dylan, one of the founding members of The Wallflowers. As part of the agreement, Warner/Chappell will co-publish Dylan’s interest in compositions from The Wallflowers, including the group’s eponymous 1992 debut album, its critically-acclaimed and four-time Platinum certified sophomore album, Bringing Down the Horse, as well as the Gold-certified album (Breach) and Red Letter Days. The agreement also includes Dylan’s 2008 debut solo album, Seeing Things, his upcoming sophomore solo album, Women and Country, and all of his future compositions.

  NEVER SHOUT NEVER SIGNS WORLDWIDE CO-PUBLISHING AGREEMENT

Warner/Chappell Music signed a new, worldwide co-publishing agreement with Christofer Drew, an emerging 19-year old modern Indie Pop singer and songwriter who is known professionally as Never Shout Never. As part of the agreement, Warner/Chappell will co-publish his catalog of work including his recently-released debut solo album, What is Love? as well as future works. Since its January 26th release date, the album has reached No. 2 on Billboard’s Rock and Alternative Albums charts as well as No. 6 on the Digital Albums charts. With cumulative single and album sales of more than 700,000 copies in the United States according to Nielsen SoundScan, Never Shout Never has come a long way since the earlier days when he first found stardom after featuring his music and videos to MySpace Music. Since then he has garnered a passionate, cult-like following as he has toured relentlessly across the U.S.

Never Shout Never is currently co-headlining the 2010 AP and Warped Tours.

Warner/Chappell Music has signed a worldwide publishing agreement with two members of the newly-formed rock group, Them Crooked Vultures, renowned artists John Paul Jones and Joshua Homme. As part of the agreement, Warner/Chappell will administer Jones’ and Homme’s interests in the compositions they create with Them Crooked Vultures, including songs from the band’s self-titled debut album, as well as all future compositions with the group. Warner/Chappell Music has has extended its worldwide co-publishing agreement with chart-topping songwriter, Claude Kelly. As part of the agreement, Warner/Chappell Music will continue to co-publish on a worldwide basis all of Kelly’s future compositions, as well as his catalog of past work, including his shares of the hit songs “Party in the USA,” (recorded by Miley Cyrus), “Circus,” (recorded by Britney Spears) and “My Life Would Suck Without You,” (recorded by Kelly Clarkson) as well as the current single, “In My Head” (recorded by Beluga Heights/Warner Bros. Warner/Chappell Music expanded its worldwide agreement with GRAMMY Award-winning performer and songwriter Don Henley, a founding member of the Eagles. As part of the agreement, Warner/Chappell will now administer worldwide publishing rights to Henley’s share of all Eagles albums, marking the first time that a major music publisher will administer Henley’s shares of the group’s catalog in the U.S. Warner/Chappell Music began its relationship with Henley in 1993, and will continue to administer his solo catalog and future compositions worldwide, as well as his Eagles songs outside the U.S. [READ MORE]

Warner/Chappell Music extends its worldwide publishing agreement with GRAMMY Award and multiple Juno Award-winning Reprise Records recording artist Michael Bublé. Warner/Chappell Music also announced an expansion of its worldwide publishing agreement with songwriter, pianist and Bublé’s musical director, Alan Chang.
